Concerts
Concerts are held at Roe Green Methodist Church Hall, Worsley, Manchester M28 2RN.

We organise concerts every six months or so where family and friends are invited. These are very good for gaining experience of public performing and tend to be a lot of fun.
Too Old?
Many of the members have either never played an instrument before or haven't played for a considerable time.
The ages of the members ranges from very young to, em, well not so young.
So if you always wanted to play the Violin/Viola/Cello/Double Bass but never attended music college, then why not get in touch.
New members are very welcome from absolute beginner to Grade 8.
We also have sub-groups within Lowry strings such as early music groups and various other music ensembles.
Lowry Strings is an Adult String Group based in Salford area of the UK. The group was formed in the 1970s by Colin Green, the musical director, due to interest from parents waiting for their children during violin lessons. After running for 15 years, it lapsed and was restarted in about 1990 as part of the Salford Music Service. When Colin left the service in 1999, he continued with the group and it was officially launched as Lowry Strings Group. Following a grant from the National Lottery in 2002, a beginner's section was formed and the players from this are now beginning to join the main ensemble.
All new members get the first four weeks free of charge! After this fees are paid on a termly basis, payable on the first week of term. The amount varies depending on the length of the term and the expenses that we expect to incur. The main expenses include the hire of the room, Colin's fees as musical director and the cost of sheet music. If you cannot pay the full term's fees, you may pay every half term, but we would be very grateful if you could avoid this option as it makes fee collection more complicated.
Rehearsals are held at the Westwood Community Centre, Grasmere Crescent Westwood Estate, Eccles M30 8DN (five minutes from Junction 13 on the M60) on a Friday evening from 7:30 to 9:00 pm, during school term time.
